Signs You Have an Electrical Emergency

If you notice any electrical issue on your property, it’s always best to contact a technician quickly. Allowing the problem to persist even for a few days could put you at serious risk of a fire, electric shock, or other dangerous situations. That said, some electrical emergencies can’t wait. If you notice any of these signs, you should call us right away:

Smoke or a Burning Odor

Sizzling Noises

Loud Breaker Box

Overheated Service Panel

Sudden Power Outage

Sparking or Flashing

When to Call 911

Electricity can be deadly. To keep you and your loved ones safe, it is critical to contact emergency responders immediately if you experience any of these problems:

Snapped and downed power post outside of residential.

Downed Power Lines

Many downed power lines are still live, which means they could seriously injure anybody who comes into contact with them – even through nearby conductive materials such as metal fences or puddles. Remain at least 45 feet away from the wire and contact 911 if you see a line come down.

Electric Shock or Other Injury

NEVER directly touch somebody if they are receiving an electric shock from an appliance. The safest thing to do is shut off the power supply, though if the control panel is difficult to access, use a non-conductive tool (such as plastic or wood) to remove their contact from the appliance. Should anybody sustain an injury due to electric shock, call emergency responders for assistance immediately.

Fire or Burning

Should an electrical fire break out in your home, evacuate your home immediately and call 911. If it is safe to do so, shut off the power supply to limit the damage – but never sacrifice your wellbeing for this step.
